There is a really cool story going around about a high school student who is a worker a Dairy Queen. It is a really cool story. I actually plan to show it to my children to teach them about character. Here is a link to the story: http://on.fox8.com/ASZj6zK
But as I watched it. Something hit. Our culture is in big trouble. It is a telling thing when simply doing the right thing becomes national news. I am not saying this to minimize what this young man did. It is great. But wow, it seems as though this type of behavior is now in the minority and the woman who picked up the money has become what is expected. I just want to put this out there. If is our culture is crumbling when it comes to having character, what is driving this?
Greed! It is all about me and what’s in it for me if I do such and such. Not – how will this help someone else if I do such and such. Give me back the old days when I hung my laundry outside on the clothesline and spoke and even carried on a conversation with my neighbor and maybe even shared a cup of coffee. Now I am lucky to even see my neighbor let alone speak to them. Shame on me. It is as much my fault as it is theirs. 😦
You know what is driving it. The enemy has passed his “me first” agenda into all aspects of our society and culture. Anyone who puts others first is the exception, not the rule. And that is a sad, sad state for our “Christian nation” to be in. Which proves we’re not.
