#5 – Has a missional mindset and focus
Christians care about what God cares about. God cares about people. People are incredibly precious to God. They are so precious that God came to earth put on skin and lived as a regular person. Jesus lived the perfect life we could never live and died the death we all should die. The focus of the life of Jesus was to give God the Father glory by completing the mission He was given, which was to pay the price for the sin of humanity by dying on the cross. The entire life of Jesus was focused around this mission right up to His death and including His resurrection. When you read about Jesus He lived on mission, because that mission meant honoring His Father, obeying the Spirit and loving people.
As a Christian, we pick up our role in the mission. The Bible tells us in multiple places that the role of the Christ follower is to be on a joint rescue mission with God to tell people of the news that Jesus loves them and that He is the way to heaven. The entire life of a disciple of Jesus becomes wrapped up in this mission. We are wrapped up in the way we approach spending, planning, parenting, dreaming, prioritizing, speaking and so on. Those maturing in Christ keep the eternal mission in the front of their thinking as they approach life. This mission is not a Sunday thing. It is not an attending a church thing. It is not a charity thing. Or a moral thing. Or a duty thing. It is a mission thing. It was the goal, bent and leaning of the life and person in love with Jesus.
