I was watching some American Idol last week.  It was Hollywood week.  There is a lot of pressure on the contestants.  One of the biggest challenges they face is remembering lyrics from a song that many of them have just learned.  I saw something happen consistently as I was watching the show.  There were some really talented, gifted singers that would begin to forget the lyrics and as soon as it would happen they would shut down.  They would not push through the trial, difficulty and uncertainty, but rather submitted to it.  I thought about that and was reminded of what I think is an important principle.  Never let a trial or circumstance force you to quit when your abilities and giftedness have positioned you to do something significant.  The trial and uncertainty are real, but so is your ability.  Trust in what you are capable of and fight through the challenge knowing you have incredible runway.
