Sports Talk

I felt like writing a shallow blog.  Some good old-fashioned sports talk.  So for those of you who read this blog with the hope of getting something related to the eternal.  Today is not your day.  With several things going on in the world of sports, I have had a bunch of things going through my brain.  Here are some things I have been thinking about:

  1. It is really silly that All-Star game in baseball determines home field advantage for the World Series. With the DH in one league and not in the other, that is too big of a thing to put on the All-Star game.
  2. The referees in college and pro football are making too many big calls.  I know the leagues what the players protected.  But they have forced the refs into making the game something football should not be.  They need to pay close attention to this or they are going to lose some fan base.  It is a violent sport.  Injury and pain are a part of it.
  3. I am super jazzed for college basketball season.  Both North Carolina and Ohio State are going to be very good.  But know this Buckeye fans, you will miss Diebler and Lightly far more than you realize.
  4. Throwing first pitch strikes to hitters is huge.  This was the difference in the World Series in my mind.  The bullpen for Texas could not throw first pitch strikes.
  5. I want Tim Tebow to succeed, but I am becoming more and more convinced that he does not have the key piece to being a NFL quarterback – accuracy.  Forget everything else – in the NFL you have to be very accurate.
  6. The play calling for both the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes is beyond awful.  They do not give their “playmakers” a chance to make plays.  Both teams are so predictable it is ridiculous.  I have a hard time watching them run the ball every second down, because that is what the “book” says you are to do in 2nd and long.  Tough to watch.
  7. Calvin Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Aaron Rodgers and Troy Polamalu are all worth the price of admission.
  8. I can’t decide if I will miss NBA basketball or not.  Probably, but the whole lockout is crazy to me.  I guess it is necessary, but I it seems silly.
  9. I kind of feel like the college football national championship is this Saturday with the LSU versus Alabama game.
  10. Why are the Columbus Blue Jackets so bad?  It must be in the water for Ohio professional teams. Columbus Crew excluded.

  1. This made me laugh. I have no idea what you’re talking about for the most part (its a foreign language to me. Maybe we could talk shoes?) and I am sorry that this is all weighing on you so heavily. I’m glad you got it off your chest. Go Bucks.
