I really believe that a great attribute of leaders and effective people is that they are teachable. I see this same key piece in all the people I respect as leaders and influencers. They just never stop learning. Proverbs 9:9 says “Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning.” Smart people are always looking to be smarter. Smart people let others correct them, inform them, shape them. They do not act like they have heard it all before or that even hearing the same lessons or teachings will not be good for them. If you are at the conference or in the chair on Sunday morning, feeling like what is being said on most weeks is not going to be beneficial, you do not have a heart that is teachable. If every time someone else talks, you have the attitude of “I know”, get over yourself, you are not that sweet. Being teachable is not just about learning new stuff, it is about being willing to learn in each and every environment, from each and every person. Is your life marked by this key piece?
Yea, right Keith…tell somebody who needs it.
