I was reading something on a comments section of a youtube clip that got me thinking. Similar thinking patterns were sparked when listening to a comedian taking shots at something. It made me realize how often I personally criticize or other criticize views that we do not fully understand. I think before we take shots at a position, we need to be sure we get it. We need to be sure that if we were explaining it to someone that an advocate for the position woud agree with our presentation. I feel like many of our initial and surface criticisms and evaluations of someone else’s “thing” come without a real understanding of what he or she is proposing.
