Acceptance

What would it look like to accept a person just the way he or she is?  I struggle with the preconceived notions I bring to the table,  someones appearance and image, the first impression of what he or she says, and of course past history if I have know the person.  How do you get rid of this stuff?  I want to better at just accepting people…not agreeing with where they are or even where I hope they end up…I just want to learn how to truly accept a person.  To truly meet them right where they are and be alright with it.

  1. I find it ironic that we do struggle with accepting people they way they are, but that is all that we want for ourselves. We want to be accepted without fear of being judged, mocked, or hurt because of our imperfections and individuality. What would the world look like if we were all able to take off our masks, stop pretending, be real, and then accept each other in spite of all the junk?

Or does true acceptance only come from God? Is the rest just conditional acceptance through temporary relationships and what is easiest and most convenient for us at the time?
